Spotlight on Tom Stevenson. Tom and his wife Jinger moved to the Highlands just over a year ago from Connecticut to live in a beautiful area and be near a ski resort. Their first interaction with many of their neighbors was at the 2022 Summer Bash.  Tom says he has a new way to describe where he lives by saying, “We’re the house just above the big mudslide on Mountain View.”  Tom and Jinger first met at a company called Fitlinxx and developed a friendship based on their love for recreation and fitness.  After planning a ski trip to Utah, they decided to get married while at The Canyons near Park City.  Their next trip from Connecticut to Utah was 20 years later when they moved to Mtn. Green upon Tom’s retirement.  Last winter, Tom and Jinger decided to become ski instructors at Snow Basin and have fallen in love with the “greatest snow on earth.”  Tom did his bachelors and masters degrees at Cornell in engineering, and he also did an MBA.  He has worked most of his career as a senior financial officer where he used his skills to grow and turn-around several companies.  When asked about her husband Jinger says, “Tom is super smart and has an amazing analytical mind. When you get him talking, you’ll find that he’s really funny.”  Tom said that he’s learned a few values and life lessons throughout his life, “No matter what the immediate issue is, you need to look longer-term and offer people respect. Everyone deserves that. Offering respect is fundamental to building relationships with people in business and in life.”  We’re so glad to have Tom and Jinger as neighbors, and grateful they survived the mudslide of 2023!

In Case You Missed It: Building Peacemakers.
Deven Browning led a discussion this Sunday on Elder Soares talk entitled, “Followers of the Prince of Peace.”  Deven summarized the key message as follows: “As we strive to develop attributes like the Savior’s, we can become instruments of His peace in the world. This peace is a gift promised to all who turn their hearts to the Savior and live righteously; such peace gives us the strength to enjoy mortal life and enables us to endure the painful trials of our journey.”
